The EU SME Centre functions as a Support Service Provider for European SMEs. Specifically, the Centre assists SMEs to establish, develop and maintain commercial activities in the Chinese market – through export and/or investment – by providing support through inter alia the provision of information, matchmaking and networking events and acting as a platform facilitating coordination amongst Member State services and private sector service providers to European SMEs, particularly at the crucial early stages of their market penetration strategy.5 C% U8 u' `8 V( E$ b* B. j
5 l' A+ Z" k" G& fThe EU SME Centre is operated by a consortium of European Chambers of Commerce, led by the China-Britain Business Council and includes the Benelux, French, German, Italian and Spanish Chambers in Beijing, as well as the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and Euro Chambers. % Z; B% }& `& X2 V; p

The Centre is now looking for a “Project Manager - Legal” for its office in Beijing.; h( B* g) D) h

The Project Manager will be reporting directly to the Legal Expert and will be involved in:1 E! Y: w. J' ^; b1 z: ]/ z) Z( K
- Establishment and maintenance of knowledge products on legal questions such as guides, reference papers, and databases on legal issues relevant to European SMEs; 3 t- c0 [) e( X( o! x+ o- D- P- Organisation of training courses, seminars, workshops; and 7 @* M& [: o0 S$ i5 l/ P5 ]- Handling of daily inquiries from the European SMEs. # e+ ~4 u5 T/ j/ D+ H$ O, f

Qualifications and skills:$ b0 u0 Y- d5 h% ~7 {5 N2 u3 c3 e+ C
1. Excellent understanding of China’s legal environment for business, particularly from the perspective of challenges faced by foreign companies investing in China and exporting to China; , a! Z, \0 G/ s" j4 b; f% M2. Ability to work independently and to analyse and report clearly on complex legal and regulatory issues; 5 E9 I8 v8 m% X2 a7 m3. At least three years legal working experience in China, in particular with regard to Chinese company law, commercial law, labour law, customs law or taxation law;2 k7 {0 r% n4 ]# P; s
4. Graduation from a Chinese University with academic degree in law; an advanced international law degree would be a plus 6 ^1 m8 J% k d- i% D; d3 s, r, n
5. Good communication skills, working languages will be primarily English and Chinese;/ x; X4 S6 L" {7 s
6. Ability to work effectively in a international team;( B. D3 u" S2 W% _4 f' E
7. Experience in providing legal advice to SMEs an asset;& X% F: Q. O7 \
8. Proficiency (spoken and written) in another European language would be an advantage.! |& g& ]$ S1 Z+ J! n5 Q
